How-to story idea

A story idea I have in mind for my how-to article is, "How to teach yourself piano." We touched upon the subject likely in our group meeting for class, but I'm having trouble narrowing it down.  There is a very technical aspect of learning piano, and I just don't know how to transform that into something the general audience will understand.  I plan on contacting a few piano teachers to see what they recommend, but this is all I've got.  Any suggestions?
